Aspergillus niger

Aspergillus niger, a citric acid producing fungus, grows on media that supports growth of fungi (PDA, Sabourauds Dextrose Agar [SDA] and MRBA). Their colony consist of a compact white or yellow basal felt with many folds and covered by a dense layer of dark-brown to black conidial heads.
